This very special creation belongs in a home where people appreciate unique handmade pieces that make a bold statement to anyone who sees it. A home where it will be adored whether that means putting it proudly on display or cherishing it privately. Are you that home?
Measuring an impressive total length of four feet from top of head to end of arm this octopus is bigger than most human toddlers. The body is comprised of pieces from five different pairs of my own worn out jeans (some of which I acquired second-hand) - one pair of Yoga jeans, two pair from Gap and the base is cut from two pair of Joe Fresh dark denim. When I started saving the denim I had not yet created the octopus pattern was sure that I could re-use it at some point.
Three pieces had holes worn through and I patched them with blue and white striped cotton and reinforced with zig zag visible mending on my sewing machine. Portions of the back pockets and side seams were selected to add texture to the limbs, and the pocket on the front of the body functions perfectly for hiding precious treasures....or maybe just a pen.
The pattern design and every step of the construction was completed by me. Wire armature is installed in all the limbs which gives it much better drape and allows them to be wrapped and posed around objects. The body is filled with poly stuffing and has a total weight of approx. 7 lbs.
The price listed includes shipping to anywhere in continental Canada and US.
Part of the beauty of a piece like this is even if I do another denim octopus there will never be one exactly like this one. Not only that, but this is my first.
