The elusive House Hippo has been one of the most desired creatures for Canadian kids since the early 1990's and now you can finally own one!
House Hippos are notoriously shy and nocturnal and are good at taking care of themselves. They love to munch on potato chips (because who doesn't?) and forage for crumbs and bits of dropped food. Keeping cozy is a top priority so they tend to build themselves little nests made up of lint, fuzzy scraps and odd socks. In the wild hippos are notoriously aggressive but House Hippos are docile around humans. When placed on a bedside table they make excellent defenders against anything that makes strange sounds at night.

These House Hippos measure approx. 5" x 3" (13cm x 8cm) are all individually hand stitched from 100% rayon/viscose felt which is an organic material made from processed wood pulp and tinted with vegetable-based dyes and has a characteristically soft feel. Filled with poly stuffing and felt scraps and using doll's eyes these pieces are perfect either as whimsical decorative pieces or to be used in gentle play. They are not recommended for small children.
Each Hippo comes nested in it's own small box with air holes on the sides as well as a colour image care card. The starter nesting material included is made from bits of cashmere, fleece and felt provided by local Makers Yarn & Kind and Tamed Raven. These bits are too small to be used in production and otherwise would have been discarded, but now they have purpose! :)
If you would prefer to make your own then I also have an instructional kit in my shop here.
